About Me
Hi I'm Penelope and like any artist, art has been a constant part of my life since childhood. Growing up in the era of unlimited internet access, I immersed myself in shows, movies and games serving as my entertainment and inspiration. Art of my favorite characters took over my notebooks and projects in school branding me as “the art kid”. This led to an avenue of designing club posters, creating t-shirt designs and countless commissions for free portraits.
Continuing this in high school, it wasn’t until I delved further in my academic studies that I realized art was something I could pursue. Despite it being an unconventional career in a school of aspiring doctors, lawyers and engineers I knew I would regret my decision if I didn’t take my chance. Unsure of what specific direction I wanted to take, I knew I just needed my skills to grow. I began taking on more artistic positions for school, AP arts and outside programs.
Finding out about the Art Center FYI program, I decided it was a perfect fit for me. Through this process of refining and expanding my skills I discovered my love for storytelling through visual art. I hope my ideas and style can create the same awe I experienced in the media I consumed as a kid. Whether I work for a big studio company or create freelance work, moving forward, I’m excited to continue growing and storytelling through concept, illustration or graphic design.
